Downtown - Las Vegas

St. Joseph’s Catholic Church has worked to serve the faithful of the Las Vegas faithful of the Las Vegas community since 1982. The church was originally founded by Fr. James Wilson, a retired priest from the Diocese of Wichita, Kansas. Fr. Courtney E. Krier, the began present pastor, began assisting Fr. Wilson in March of 1993. Upon Fr. Wilson’s passing, in 1997, Fr. Krier assumed sole pastorship of St. Joseph’s. He expanded the existing chapel and began a program of feeding and support ot the underserved and indigent of downtown Las Vegas, a mission which continues today.

In attempting to fulfill its mission, and most importantly serve our Lord, St. Joseph's Church directs its efforts toward meeting two fundamentally critical aspects of the Catholic faith: first, serving the spiritual needs of the local community through the offering of daily and Sunday Masses, administration of the Sacraments, counseling and guidance, and classes in religious education. Secondly, and as mention above, being of service to those in need through the operation of a five day a week on-site hot meal service for the indigent and underserved, an on-demand grocery pantry and clothing distribution service, and other forms of aid as can be provided within the scope of available resources. No one in need is turned away.

The church accomplished its mission with the help of a dedicated core of volunteers who work to collect and intake food & clothing donations, properly store and distribute the same, serve hot weekday meals, and ensure the continued operations of these vital services. The church is blessed and grateful to receive private and commercial contributions of food and food service items.

Fr. Krier also offer a weekly Sunday Latin Mass at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Mission in Needles, California. This mission was established early on by Fr. James Wilson. Upon Fr. Wilson’s passing, Fr. Krier assumed pastoral care and oversight of this operation, too.

Contribution Levels & Acknowledgements

All donations are important, regardless of amount. But the committee recognizes that there are parishioners and friends who are in a financial position to make significantly larger donations to help conclude fundraising. To acknowledge these higher levels of contribution, the church will establish a “Wall of Acknowledgement” in the entrance foyer of the new parish hall. Various levels of gifting will be memorialized with the donor’s name affixed, in plaque form, according to the level of gifting. Donations “In Loving Memory Of” may also be made. Simply specify who you wish to memorialize when you make your donation.

Filipino Catholic Community

A FUNdraising event to help renovate our Parish Hall

Since 2003, Fr. Krier opened the door to the Filipino Catholic Community who were longing to have a safe space for their adoration to the blessed sacrament. As a way of thanking Fr. Krier for always being there to expose the blessed sacrament, and whenever they’re in need to receive the sacrament of confession, communion, baptism and more, they came up with this small project that offers the Filipino audiences to enjoy a night of music and camaraderie with a good cause.
